Three Risks of Sleeping Pills

Sleep-inducing medicines, which is commonly known as sleeping pills, has a reputation of helping people get some rest and quiet at night. Sleep loss is such a difficult condition to have since it truly zaps a person's energy to do the more meaningful things in life, at work or home.  Definitely, it is done by chronic insomniacs who seriously want to get that well-deserved rest. Insomniacs often flip through the hundreds of cable channels each night hoping to get tired enough to sleep.  For them, it is not necessary if they sleep in form of the TV as long as they do go to bed finally.  But TV surfing loses its effectiveness after a few nights, leaving the insomniac up and awake the whole night, and, yes, bone-weary the next morning. Manic workloads, job-related pressures, and the ever-toxic idea of work itself leaves a person with no other chance but to trust the 'fast' relief. Researches reveal that people who are likely to get stress and other everyday worries are the ones who would probably resort to have sleeping pills. Moreover, other studies also confirm that long-term use of sleeping pills could cause undesired side effects or health issues. People who often take refuge or regularly depend on these drugs are more prone to bad consequences and even dangers to life as:

Studies show that regular use of sleeping pills can decrease brain cell activity, affect short-memory term and cause hang-overs. The result of taking these drugs may seem easy, but in the long run, these effects may escalate into more serious difficulties such as carelessness and lack of focus. You wouldn't want to report to your workplace with doubtful and dizzy, right? Also, it's a bad thing to forget certain work errands just because of sleeping pills.


Alike how the body forms its natural resistance through the creation of antibodies, the body may also produce immunity to the drug. The regular intake of a certain drug would reduce the strength of the active ingredients. Eventually, the person would have to take higher doses of the pills and be open to the risk of developing a drug necessity or addiction. Sleeping pill addiction is fast becoming a common health concern indeed.              


People who rely on sleeping pills have undeniably better health rates than those who don't. Sleep apnea cases are recommended to refrain from taking sleep-inducing pills. As drugs, sleeping pills tend to extend the pauses in breathing when one is asleep.  This situation can endanger the health of people with sleep apnea.  Every year, many cases of death are associated with the effects of these pills.

As the saying goes, we can purchase comfortable beds but we can never buy a good night's sleep. This familiar statement just demonstrates that many people are actually struggling to board another express train to Dreamland. And the struggle goes on.  A good night's sleep is similar to a rare commodity for some people. The artificial lure of sleep may be important, but caution must always be practised to prevent sleeping pill overdose.
